Are you looking foward to appearing on blue peter?

So much!, i did the roadshow but this is totally different.

Did you watch Blue Peter when you were a child?

Yes. Carol Keating was on it then. It was brillant how they always had a twist on all the makes.

Do you still get nervous before performing?

A little bit. i've got 15 minutes before blue peter starts and it's live and i'm nervous! - but i like it - it gives me an edge. i've got butterflies now.

Who would you most like to duet with?

The blue boys are good fun. They're mates of mine, so that would be cool.

Can you play any other instruments apart from guitar?

Yes, the saxaphone, piano and violin.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I'm an accomplished chef

Did you always want to be a pop star?

It's what I've wanted to do for as long as I can remember. When I was 14 I taught myself how to play the guitar and then I wrote my first song. It wasnt very good, but it was a start!

Is being a popstar everything that you expected it would be?

Yes, everything and much much more. I've not had a day off in months, but because I enjoy what I do, it doesnt seem like work. I get to go on Blue Peter and sing a song I've written with my band and muck around on stage. I get to do exciting things.

Have you got any silly habits?

I sing all the time and I crick my neck a lot.

Have you had any weird or really nice presents from fans?

One of the nicest things I've ever had was tickets to see a movie at the cinema. This girl left her phone number on them. I phoned her to say thanks but I couldn't make it. It was really sweet.

Are you going to send any valentine cards?

Yes i will send one to the next girl that i really fancy. at the moment i dont fancy anyone. im looking for the girl next door and shes going get a card. i want someone who has an ordinary job. shes out there.i dont know what shes called or where she is, but ill find her.

Have you recieved any valentines?

Yes but I have no idea who they are from because they are secret ones.

Whats the most romantic song that you can think of?

I love more than words by extreme. Westlife did a cover but the original is more romantic.

What's your favourite animal?

I love cats - you dont have to take them for walks.

Do you have any pets?

I had a cat but she was 19 and unfortunately died.

Do you regret talking about 'the love in the room'? does it haunt you?

No, no, it was 2 and a half years ago and I look back at it and laugh. I said it to make people smile and it did. I think I've finally put the nail in the coffin about the Britney song, ...... baby one more time too. i beat her to no.1 with colourblind.

Do you still see the other pop idol contestants?

Yeah, we bump into each other at roadshows. Gareth's dressing room is right next door to mine at the bbc right now.

What are you looking foward to most in 2003?

I'm looking foward to the tour at the end of April. It'll be fantastic performing songs from my album, Dive In and bringing them to life on stage.
