FAMILY AND EARLY YEARS

Darius was born on 19 August 1980 in Glasgow.
His birthsign is Leo.
Darius admits to being 6' 3.5" tall though on the Saturday show they said he was 193cm (6'4.5).
His eyes are brown.
He takes size 12 shoes
He was named after a Persian King.
Darius means good man and Danesh means knowledge.
His father Booth is Iranian and is a Gastroenterologist.
His mother Avril is Scottish, her maiden name is Campbell and she is a GP.
He has two younger brothers, Aria and Cyrus.
As a baby he hummed himself to sleep.

SCHOOL LIFE

Darius went to the private Glasgow Academy. He was bullied at school. His teacher said that Darius was bright but didn't find it easy to relate to other people.
Darius was into music not academic subjects though his teachers wanted him to be a doctor or lawyer.
He joined the School Officer Training Corps at school.
He played rugby.
Darius got 8 standard grades (Scottish equivalent of GCSEs) and 6Highers (A Levels).
His nickname at school was Big D.
Having turned down a place at Oxford University, to be nearer his family, Darius studied English Literature at Edinburgh University and one day hopes to return to complete his honours degree.
In 2002 Edinburgh University awarded him an honorary degree.

MUSIC AND OTHER INTERESTS

As a child Darius listened to Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Simon & Carfunkel.
At age 7 he bought his first single, Michael jackson's "Dirty Diana".
He played Fagin in Oliver at school.
He was in the Scottish Opera and at age 11 sang at Covent Garden.
He formed a band at school called Jade.
Darius wrote his first song at the age of 14. His favourite record is "More than Words" by Extreme.

His favourite film is "Leon".
Darius admires Sean Connery.

ROMANCE

To stand a chance with Darius, you need to look like the girl next door.
