Darius dumps too-clingy Geri

News of the World 20 February 2005

Well, I didn't see this one coming...GERI HALLIWELL has been dumped by DARIUS DANESH.

Yep, Fatal Attraction Spice has been given the flick because of her attention-seeking and oh-so-needy behaviour.

Running scared, and fielding all calls, Darius has told Geri he only wants to be 'friends'.

But never one to give up without a fight - or a court injunction - Geri has vowed to win him back, telling pals: 'I'm gutted he doesn't ring me back any more. I think he's amazing'.

Pop's odd couple - Geri is eight years older than Darius and a full 14 ins shorter - became mates after writing songs together last year. And despite a couple of unconvincing denials, I revealed they were an item back in October. Lo and behold, by Christmas, they were snogging at the Beckhams' christening of sons Romeo and Brooklyn and were soon regulars on London's romantic dinner circuit.

Sadly though, relations began to cool last month - and now it appears the pair have barely seen each other for weeks.

The Scots smoothie, who has just released his DVD Darius: The Story So Far, told a pal he grew tired of Geri's possessive behaviour. My source tells me: 'He thought Geri was too full-on. She's obviously desperate to settle down and Darius thought things were far more serious than they were. He only wanted a bit of fun, but she had other ideas'.

My source added 'Darius says they never even had sex. They just kissed and cuddled a lot'.

Darius joins a long list of men who have legged it from Geri. Her exs include Robbie Williams, Chris Evans and troubled heir Damien Warner.

Robbie went on to describe the former Spice as 'a demonic little girl' whose childish demands were unbearable. He also said 'She started speaking like a psychotic child and developed this possessed look. It was genuinely scaring me'.

Former pal George Michael also claimed Geri was 'obsessed with hype'.

Oh, surely not......

The Two of Us

Daily Record 15 February 2005

DARIUS Danesh turned up for a glitzy London fashion bash with a mini-me.

The Scots singer took wee brother Cyrus to the final of a model search for top agency Premier Model Management. The Pop Idol loser denied he was struggling for a date when he turned to his family for help.

He said he'd plans for Valentine's Night - but that they definitely weren't with former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell who he denied ever having dated.

A Brief Encounter?

Pop Star Darius Meets Corrie’s Tina O’Brien for a Smoochie

Sunday 13th February 2005: It was under the clock at Waterloo Station that sexy Scottish crooner Darius Danesh met Coronation Street sweetheart, Tina O’Brien. Was this a brief encounter or a secret rendez-vous for the stars?

In fact, Darius, Tina and Waterloo Station are three of 10 winners of the first ever Udate.co.uk Valentine’s Honours List, which recognises the individuals, locations and works that have significantly contributed to warming the Nation’s hearts in 2004/2005.

Darius has been awarded the Tempter Honour for the individual who has set the Nation’s hearts fluttering and Tina is winner of the Nation’s Sweetheart category. The Clock at Waterloo Station has been honoured as the UK’s Most Romantic Location in the Udate.co.uk Honours which is also known as The Smoochies.

Pop Idol hunk Darius Danesh is facing the chop

Joe Mott's column Daily Star 12 February 2005

The tall Scotsman's days as a signed-up artist are numbered thanks to the miserable performance of his second album Live Twice.

I'm told Mercury Records are set to swing the axe and my source revealed: "Darius won't last long. People have been talking about the dismal sales of his album while his presence in the singles chart has been neglible. The public just don't seem to care for him and he's not making money."

The Pop Idol flop, 24, released Live Twice at the end of last year. It went in like a bullet at No. 36 before plummeting out of the charts at breakneck speed.

Despite pretending to go out with Geri Halliwell, no-one cared for him or bought his record and he's resorted to bouncing about in duff clubs with girls who should know better.

My source continued: "He may be able to beg one more single release out of the label, but essentially it's all over."

A spokesman for Darius said: "He is off to America soon to write with some people and another single is planned."

It'a a hard world but he had his chances.

Irish Kickboxing Awards

Prokick.com

Pop Idol Darius burst to fame performing Britney Spears’ ‘Hit Me Baby…’ so it’s no surprise to learn that the star has been snapped up to host the Irish Kickboxing Awards in March.

The chart-topping sensation will jet into Belfast on March 5 for the inaugural ceremony at Belfast’s Holiday Inn – and he can’t wait.

“This is something I’ve been really looking forward to,” he said today. “I love the sport – it’s been a big party of my family as my brother is a keen kickboxer. When I was approached, I didn’t think twice. This is the Oscars of Irish Kickboxing and to be asked to host the ceremony is a great honour. I would not have missed it for the world. I’m looking forward to a brilliant night.”

Darius is familiar with some of the rising names of Irish kickboxing, but has yet to make it to a live event over here.

“I’m told the atmosphere at the Irish shows is like no other and I can tell you that I’ve made it a priority to get along to one in Belfast in 2005.”

Billy Murray, the veteran kickboxer who is helping to stage the event, is delighted to have secured the star.

“It’s great news to have Darius hosting the inaugural Irish Kickboxing Awards,” he said. “He’s a man who certainly stops you in your tracks when he performs and he is perfect for the show. We’re reveal Darius co-host in the coming days – a female television star familiar to sports fans in Ireland – and I can tell you they are going to make a wonderful couple!”

The awards will pay tribute to the fighters, coaches, gyms and support staff who have helped the sport grow in Ireland at such an incredible rate over the last two years.

“It’s an acknowledgement of the people across the island who have made Kickboxing such a powerhouse sport,” said Murray. “It will also mark the first time that all groups and associations involved in the sport have been honoured at a single ceremony. It’s exciting and it’s historic and it also says much for Belfast’s place within the sport that the first national awards ceremony will take place in the city.”

Votes have been collated from coaches, fighters and gyms across Ireland and the top three in each category have been short-listed. Voting is now open - just click here Irish Kickboxing awards to cast your votes.

THE RAZZ: AT THE BRITS: Darius Backs Franz for Brit Glory

Beverley Lyons And Cath Bennett, Daily Record 9 February 2005

DARIUS won't be at the Brits tonight ... but he's keeping his fingers crossed for fellow Scots act Franz Ferdinand. The smooth crooner is missing the event because he's playing a gig in Paris, but he sent his best to both Franz and Snow Patrol. 'Franz Ferdinand are local boys and they've really done well,' he said. 'They should definitely win Best Group.

'I hope Snow Patrol win something. Run was one of my favourite songs of last year.'

The Live Twice singer revealed he had become slightly muddled about who was nominated. 'I was telling someone that I hoped Daniel Bedingfield won best male,' he said. 'And I've now found out he's not even nominated.' Darius chatted to the Razz after winning the title of Clinton Cards Celebrity Valentine of the Year 2005, beating off competition from David Beckham, Jeremy Edwards and Simon Cowell.

LOVELY COUPLE

LOVE was in the air yesterday when crooner Darius got to grips with American beauty Caprice.

But the pair weren't confessing to a steamy romance together.

They were in the spotlight after being voted tops in the first Clinton Cards Celebrity Valentine of the Year awards.

Caprice, 33, pipped fellow-model Jodie Marsh for the accolade while 24-year-old Darius beat Duncan James from boy band Blue.

By Sherna Noah, PA Showbusiness Correspondent Scotsman.com 8 February 2005

Big Brother contestant Caprice and singer Darius Danesh have been named Celebrity Valentine of the Year.

Caprice beat the likes of singers Rachel Stevens and Cheryl Tweedy, actress Kelly Brook, and TV presenter Cat Deeley.

Pop Idol heartthrob Darius, 24, pipped Prince William, Robbie Williams, and David Beckham in the ideal Valentine poll.

After getting his award, the Scottish crooner said he was hoping for a little romance on February 14.

“I hope I will be revealing to the woman who I have a major crush on, that I would love her to be my Valentine.

“She thinks I’m going to be out of the country but I’m going to ask the housekeeper to let me in and surprise her with dinner on the table for two,” he said.

Caprice, 33, said: “I would be into Valentines if I had one.

“My ideal Valentine would be someone caring to spend time with, to hang out with, to go to a nice restaurant with and drink a bottle of wine with.

“I’m hoping for a surprise,” she said.

Around 10,000 people voted online for the Clinton Cards Celebrity Valentine of the Year. s

Darius Heading for Bollywood

Mail on Sunday 6 February 2005

"Pop Idol heart throb Darius Danesh is heading for Bollywood, I can reveal. The smooth Scottish crooner is flying to India next week to meet up with some of the country's top movie producers.

"I'm quite excited about it all" he told me after picking up tips at the first night of West End show A Life in the Theatre. "It's going to be fun and, if I do well out there, who knows what will happen?"

The ever-modest singer adds:"I've been to India once before and I actually have quite a following. The first thing I saw when I got off the plane was a huge Darius billboard,
