Hello!
Cosmo Girl
Hello everyone, Darius is just making his way from the studio...
Darius: I'm here now...
Lucy Bench: Hi Darius, I love your new single! Did you have fun shooting the new video?
Darius: Yes. I have always had fun shooting my music videos but this one was really special. Beautiful location, beautiful girl and a happy song. Good times!
Rachel Willis: How do you manage to look so good all the time? What's your secret?!
Darius: You know how to make a guy feel good on a Friday morning - charmer! I got back from a gig in Nottingham last night about 2.30am and I had to get up at 5.30 this morning, so thanks! Don't know if I believe you!
Sarah Vaux: What is your favourite song on the new album?
Darius: Good question... It is definitely Live Twice. The song I wrote for my father, it's a very personal song for me.
Michelle Hogg: Hi Darius, if you could have any artists cover one of your own songs who would it be and which song would it be. Also I hope your father is doing well, he is my prayers.
Darius: Great question. One day I'd like to write songs for another artist or a band. But if you're talking about a cover fantasy, the song Devil In You on the new album was inspired by the era of songs made famous by Frank Sinatra. It really is a fantasy, but I kinda dream about him covering Devil In You.
Fhern Wilson: I met you in August ... 2003 and I cried, what's the weirdest/nicest thing a fan has ever done for you?
Darius: The letters of support for my father who was diagnosed with terminal cancer in February this year have been amazing. And have probably been the most touching gesture that I could imagine from a fan.
Paul: Hi Darius, Live Twice would make a special Christmas number 1, will it be released for christmas?
Darius: I am trying to balance spending time with my family at a very important time with releasing the album Live Twice on the 25th October. And I would only ever release the second single if I had their blessing and support. So we'll see...
Kimmee: If you could "live twice" what would you change and why? Lots of luck!
Darius: Honestly? I wouldn't change anything - I feel very lucky for the life that I have, and I'd only ever wish for something for someone very close to me.
Sarah: Are you planning to settle down with Natasha Henstridge?
Darius: I think after meeting the woman who has proved to me that you can be beautiful and still have a beautiful soul, I'd be crazy not to have been knocked off my feet by her. But right now I'm spending all my time and love and energy with my family. Who know what might happen in the future though?
Julian Fisher: You've made some ambitious claims in the past about where you saw your career going. Have you achieved them or have you mellowed your expectations?
Darius: I've always set myself goals that for me are aspirational. I think it's important to always challenge yourself and reach for something higher. Being grateful for and appreciating your acheivements, no matter how humble they may be is the most important thing though. If you aim for the moon and you miss, the worst that can happen is that you land in the stars...:)
Rachel Willis: Darius what kind of music do you listen and relax to?
Darius: You guys can't hear this but the fire alarm is going off!!! And it wasn't me! Classical music, I'm partial to a bit of Beethoven. I think that the Buddha-Bar collection is cool too!
Morgan: Hi Darius, look forward to seeing on Monday at Oxford. When are you next doing a tour?
Darius: I look forward to announcing dates for the new tour on the website in January. www.dariusmusic.com. I hope that everyone that came to the Dive In tour enjoyed it.
Vicky: The girl in your new single wants you like a cup of coffee.....how do you like your coffee, Darius?
Darius: Hot, strong, sweet and creamy - everything in excess!
Sammi: Have you always wanted to be a singer or in the future would you like to try acting?
Darius: I indulge all my acting fantasies in my music videos, and appearing opposite a Hollywood actress in the Kinda Love video was really cool.
Sammi: I saw you at the tickled pink concert, compliments on your live performance it was brill. Do you always sing live?
Darius: I always sing live at any of my concerts and I love doing small acoustic sets. But sometimes on TV, studios don't always have the sonic provisions for a live vocal, sound check limitations and other factors occasionally mean the dreaded mime!
Sassy girl: How do you cope when beautiful girls are throwing themselves at your feet - especially when you're away from home in lonely hotels?
Darius: It's really difficult and possibly the worst part of the job! Why don't you believe me??
Mad Mae: Does the almost constant press bashing ever bother you?
Darius: I wasn't aware that I get constant press bashing! So thanks for pointing it out. Ignorance is obviously bliss...
Kazisme: Is there anything you'd like to ask your fans?
Darius: Fantastic question! I'd love for fans to email my official site to tell me three things: What is favourite ballad from Dive In? What is your favourite upbeat song from that album? and If I were ever to cover a ballad what would it be? and another one - If I were to cover an upbeat song, what would it be? So four questions really... I'm curious to what people might think.
Sarah: What's your worst habit?
Darius: If I told you, I'd have kill you :) I've got too many to list, there wouldn't be any more room for questions if I started!
Vicky: Do you find it scary when you see the same fans turn up everywhere you go? If so, sorry!
Darius: Ahhh, no, of course not! I love it.
Sammi: Everything you do is in the spotlight, is there anything you would have done differently?
Darius: No regrets, just experience. I really enjoyed spending the last year spending time with my family and writing songs for the new album.
Sue Togwell: If you had a day when you had nothing to do, how would you spend it?
Darius: Every day I get the chance to do nothing, I do something. Spending a day out and having a simple meal with my parents , hanging out with friends, or inviting my brothers down to London for some fun and mischief!
Sarah: Have any fans ever thrown knickers at you on stage? What's the strangest thing they have thrown?
Darius: Yes, one set landed on my shoulder. Good aim!
Gemma: What was it like facing up to Simon Cowell?
Darius: He's a pussycat.
Jess: Hi Darius - I love you - where do you see yourself in five years time?
Darius: This year and the news of the prospect of losing a loved one has made me embrace the life motto of living for the day and embracing the moment like I never have before. I only have 2 dates in my mind for the future - the 25th of this month when I release my second album, a body of work that I am truly proud of, and that I dedicate to my father. And the 25th December, when I'm going to be spending a very cosy, very close family Christmas back at home in Glasgow with a full belly and a log fire!!! :)
Thank you for all your wonderful questions - you guys rock! There are so many more questions that I'd love to answer right now, but I've got to fly to my next interview. I've really enjoyed taking time out to talk to you. And this is definitely one of the highlights of my week. I hope you all stay safe. Sending you all my best, God bless, Darius x
