SINGER Darius has compared himself to Oscar winner Jamie Foxx.
The Scots crooner, who once claimed his life echoed that of bad-boy rapper Eminem, now relates more to the African American screen star. He said: 'We met in Miami and talked about the days when he was an aspiring actor and had to deal with many knockbacks.
'I found I could really empathise with him. In a way, I've been through the same.' Darius, from Glasgow's posh Bearsden, went from flop-idol to pop star after using his experiences on reality TV to make himself a household name.
Jamie was brought up by his granny in Texas after his parents separated.
He did stand-up comedy before getting his own TV show, and eventually major film roles.
Darius said: 'I didn't really tell him my story, but I loved hearing how he got to where he is.
'I think I'm a bit more respectful of my family than he is, but I could see similarities there.' Darius was at the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow yesterday for a lunch to raise funds for cystic fibrosis.
He revealed that he has followed in his brother Aria's footsteps and signed with a model agency.
He is now on the books of Premier Model Management, which helped build the careers of Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington and Claudia Schiffer
THE feathers were flying when Darius flew in to Edinburgh yesterday.
The Kinda Love singer was pulling no punches as he romped in the unique Sheraton Sweet Sleeper bed along with the Razz girls.
The star had cut short his holiday in Turkey to be at a party to mark the Grand Hotel and Spa's new Edinburgh Suite. He said: 'This bed is really comfy, but you girls can be lethal with these pillows.'
He later performed an exclusive set in front of 500 VIP guests
In true Darius Danesh style, he had the women flocking around him when he went to the launch of London's latest nightclub Mo*Vida.
But the Scottish stud revealed that he finds it really amusing when he's surrounded by lusty ladies.
He said"Well, of course I'm flattered by so much attention - it is part of my job. But to be honest, sometimes I do wish I could be a bit more anonymous."
The 24 year old also said he was enjoying himself being back in Britain after a stint of casting in Los Angeles.
He said: "I have just been enjoying myself, going to auditions and castings. After a while you get used to it. But at the moment I am just happy to be home. I do love Los Angeles. It is somewhere you definitely love or loathe."
