And despite rumours that he's still dating Hollywood actress Natasha Henstridge, it looks like big D was quick to get a lock on the winner Laura Shields.

Pop Idol's Darius Danesh was flying by the seat of his pants when he jetted into Belfast for a kick-boxing event with just minutes to spare.

The gorgeous Glaswegian - who was co-hosting the inaugural Irish Kick-boxing Awards last Saturday night with UTV's Claire McCollum - was late getting to London after his flight from LA was delayed for six hours.

Darius missed his connecting flight to Belfast and arrived in the city just as the show was about to begin. But ever the professional, the singer was cool, calm and collected when he took to the stage at the Holiday Inn, to the strains of the Britney Spears' single Hit Me Baby One More Time.

Darius also revealed that he would rather be in Belfast than a glitzy Hollywood party.

"I've been at Elton John's post-Oscar bash and I can tell you, if next year these awards clashed with one of Elton's parties, I'd choose the awards.

"I've had such an incredible time here as I always do. I just love Belfast."
