Hello!
Cosmo Girl
Darius sinks another hit
That little known talent show Pop Idol is back on telly, but that doesn't mean last year's success stories are keeping quiet.
Darius has found time while scribbling his second alb to pen a book about his time in showbiz so far.
It's an interesting read (more so than many of the twaddle pop peeps put out.)
And when we stopped gazing at the pics we managed to talk to Big D.
In typical Darius fashion the decision to write his book Sink or Swim was not a mandate from big management people.
"I would sit down the pub and tell my friends stories from Pop Idol and they would say: 'Darius, man, you have to write all this down.'" he said
"Also no-one had ever done a book that goes behind the scences of a reality show before, so it's interesting."
Swoonsome Scot Darius is having a ball travelling the country to attend book signings for his ace Sink or Swim book.
"It's been very exiting to be able to meet lots of fans, and see how much they're like the book," he said.
Not that he's any stranger to, erm, signing. "The strangest is underwear. I always oblige if thet have a witty reason for the request," he laughed.
After the success of Dive In, Darius is looking forward to releasing his new album in November, sandwiching him between Brit and Kylie.
"It's a big stp forward and should appeal to a wide audience. I've been pushing myself to grown, like artists I've admired," he lilted
"For me the epitome of achievement is The Beathles." Darius's new signle is made up of classic song titles.
Pop god Darius is quick to point out new book Sink or Swim is not an autobiography.
"I hate those celebrities with not many year's experience who bring out these autobiographies," he confided.
"Then they'll bring out another a few years later that's simply a re-written version of the first." Ooh, we wonder exactly whos he might have in mind...
Yes, Geri, it's probs you.
Sink or Swim Darius's self-penned new book, draw on some painful experiences, like being bullied and beaten up at school.
"It did bring back some hard feelings, but it was a positive experience. But it wasn't about closere," he says
"For me, my experience on Pop Idol and Popstars was my work experience, and I'm just recording those times in this book."
Darius, who has an English Lit degree, decided that he would write new book Sink or Swim while most slebs recruit ghost writers.
"I found it more difficult to put things into words for the book than a song, strangely," he revealed
"It took six months to do. It was a real challenge. But everyone knows how I love to rise to one."
And thats what we all love him for, eh?
Darius's new book is something of an anomaly, featuring smart, non-schmaltzy words as well as seriously gorge pics.
"Y'know, most of the pics in the book were taken in four days by this fab French photographer I hooked up with."
In true Darius style, he's now looking forwars to his next tour. "I'd do it 11 months of the year if I could. I love it."
We'd be there every night!
